There is a big difference in glass quality. You don't want the glass to produce glare and distract from the artwork. It's almost impossible to show the difference on a computer monitor but trust us, there is a difference. Conservation glass also shields over 99.9% of UV radiation, the main reason for aging.
Glazing refers to the glass or acrylic material covering the artwork to protect
it. We carry regular clear glass, non-reflective glass and conservation glass
(specially formulated to help filter UV light.) Conservation glass comes in both
clear and non-reflective. Acrylic is lighter in weight and safer than glass but
requires a soft cloth and nonabrasive cleaner or it is easily scratched. It is
ideal for oversized pieces, frames hanging in a child's room, or items that will
be shipped several times. We also carry museum glass which offers both UV protection
and appears so clear that it looks like no glass as all! Museum glass is perfect
for high end art and priceless portraits--or anything that you want to really
show off.
