Why Frame?
Framing our pictures or other memories is a distinct part of our
American and Western heritage. From the moment our westward-bound
ancestors could do woodworking,
they were also framing their quilts, needlepoint and artwork. For many
women this meant a tie with back East but with a distinct new
style and a beauty of
its own. As a Texas family we carry on that tradition, using the best
quality materials and methods.
Whether you are framing a poster, your child's artwork, or a fine
work of art, custom framing will reflect your personal taste and
protect your piece for years to come. Many things arrive at our shop
already damaged because it was left unframed for long periods of
time. If it's a rolled piece, such as a poster, serious damage can
be caused by rubber bands, tape, paperclips, and even a gentle squeeze.
A good framer will help you with all of the decisions that
go into properly framing your picture. We use only acid-free
matboards and backing boards that will help protect your art
from the damaging effects of time and from common pollutants
that cause yellowing, fading and deterioration. Also, certain
types of glass will help prevent damage caused by UV light.
It's All In The Details
Sometimes it's the smallest element that makes the biggest
difference. Fabric mats, creative window openings in a mat,
fillets to match the outer frame, stacked mats to cast a shadow,
knowing whether to mount or hinge a piece of art--all these
things an experienced framer is familiar with and can help
you decided what works best for you.
Start by finding a framer who is passionate about the art of
framing and who will work closely with you to choose from the
thousands of color and style combinations. Years of experience
and dedication to our profession make Cardinal Frame & Art
that framer.
The cost of a quality framed work is comparable with dinner at a fine restaurant but is economical given its lasting value and
the years of enjoyment and conversation it will provide. If you're new to
framing, we suggest you start by giving us a call or dropping by. We know
what questions to ask to guide you along the way and are happy to get to know
you.
